SOUTHERN NORTH CAROLINA: Former senator Jesse Helms (R-Hell) died today, sparking a national celebration in towns all over America.

Helms, first elected to the senate on a platform of segregation and opposition to the 1964 Civil Rights Act, later came out in favor of the Judge Dred Scott decision.

Tens of thousands of towns across America celebrated Helms' death with lavish fireworks shows at dusk.
